Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
• Continuously monitor and assess critically ill pediatric patients and respond to changes
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists—to deliver coordinated care
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following protocols
• Document clinical findings, interventions and patient responses clearly and promptly
• Serve as an advocate for patients and families, offering education and emotional support
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in California (or compact license where applicable)
• Experience caring for critically ill pediatric patients in a PICU setting preferred
• BLS required; PALS strongly preferred
• Critical care certification (e.g., CCRN-Pediatric) a plus
• Strong clinical assessment, communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to handle a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with professionalism and empathy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and interventions
• Proficiency with monitoring equipment and advanced life support techniques
• Medication administration and IV/central line management expertise
• Excellent prioritization, clinical judgment and time management
• Strong family-centered care and patient education skills
• Comfort using electronic medical records and documenting care accurately
