Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Monitor patient status closely, assess changes, and intervene promptly to ensure safety
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team — physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists — to deliver coordinated care
• Administer medications, manage complex IV therapies, and operate critical care equipment with precision
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in the patient chart and communicate updates to families with empathy
• Participate in orientation, unit-based education, and continuous quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or eligibility to obtain one
• Experience or demonstrated interest in Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, critical care setting and collaborating with a diverse team
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and a patient-family centered approach

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric critical care principles and age-appropriate assessment skills
• Familiarity with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and vasoactive medication titration
• Proficient clinical documentation and care planning in an electronic health record
• Ability to prioritize tasks, respond to emergencies, and remain calm under pressure
• Teamwork, clear handoffs, and family-centered communication
