Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Assess and monitor patient status, interpreting vital signs and trends to guide care
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, following facility protocols
• Operate and manage critical care equipment, including ventilators and hemodynamic monitors
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and adjust care plans
• Educate and support families, communicating changes in condition and care needs clearly and empathetically
• Participate in orientation and training to maintain high standards of care and safety

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Massachusetts required
• Previous experience in a PICU or pediatric critical care setting preferred
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in acute care settings
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team
• Reliable, professional, and committed to delivering family-centered care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - BSN preferred
• Completion of pediatric or critical care orientation/competency program as required by facility

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in pediatric critical care assessments and interventions
• Experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Familiarity with medication administration and pediatric dosing
• Comfortable using electronic health record systems and documenting care accurately
• Excellent communication and family-centered care skills
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond rapidly in emergency situations
