Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists) to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Monitor patient status continuously and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Administer medications, manage specialized equipment, and perform critical interventions safely
• Educate and support families through treatment, discharge planning, and follow-up care
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current and active RN license in Massachusetts (or compact license as applicable)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and BLS certification required; ACLS preferred where applicable
• Comfortable working in a high-acuity pediatric intensive care environment
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritize in fast-paced situations
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and the care team
• Ability to complete orientation and unit-specific competency validation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and common PICU equipment
• Familiarity with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Skill in medication administration and titration for critically ill children
• Ability to perform thorough patient assessments and document clearly
• Critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and teamwork under pressure
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and unit communication tools
