Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients, ensuring safe recovery
• Continuously assess patients’ airway, breathing, circulation and pain, and intervene promptly
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical, and pediatric teams to coordinate safe handoffs
• Administer medications and treatments per orders and document care clearly
• Educate families on immediate postoperative care and address questions with empathy
• Participate in unit-based safety and quality improvement activities

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Ohio licensure expected)
• Experience or training in PACU and pediatric nursing (PACU, Pediatric nursing, Post-Anesthesia Care)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced post-anesthesia environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to pass required onboarding and orientation processes

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current RN license in Ohio

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of post-anesthesia care principles and pediatric-specific recovery needs
• Skilled in pediatric assessment, pain management, and airway vigilance
• Competent with medication administration, IV management, and documentation
• Strong communication skills for effective family education and team coordination
• Commitment to patient safety and infection control practices
