Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients in the PACU with vigilance and warmth
Monitor vital signs, manage pain, and ensure airway stability while escalating concerns promptly
Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe recovery
Educate families on postoperative care and safe discharge instructions in a clear, comforting manner
Maintain accurate, timely documentation and contribute to a safe, efficient PACU environment

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Missouri licensure or compact eligibility preferred
Experience in PACU nursing with pediatric patient population (Pediatrics)
BLS required; PALS and ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and ability to work in a fast-paced post-anesthesia setting
Comfortable collaborating with perioperative and anesthesia teams; excellent communication skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Post-anesthesia assessment and recovery management
Pediatric pain assessment and comfort measures
Airway management and monitoring of vital signs
Medication administration and IV management in the PACU setting
Clear, empathetic communication with families and care teams
Accurate clinical documentation and charting practices
