Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care for pediatric patients, monitoring vitals and recovery closely
• Assess and manage pain, airway and emergence from anesthesia with precision and care
• Communicate clearly with families and the surgical team to ensure smooth handoffs and patient understanding
• Document patient status and interventions accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with colleagues to prioritize patient safety and efficient PACU flow
• Participate in orientation and training to maintain high-quality pediatric PACU care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Experience in PACU nursing and pediatric patient care (Pediatrics/PACU skills required)
• Current BLS certification; PALS strongly preferred
• Comfortable with post-anesthesia monitoring, IV management and pain control in children
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia care and recovery assessment for pediatric patients
• Pediatric airway management basics and emergent response awareness
• Familiarity with monitoring equipment and interpreting vital signs trends
• Pain management strategies and comfort measures for children
• Clear documentation practices and effective family communication
• Teamwork, prioritization, and the ability to work in a fast-paced PACU environment
