Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care for pediatric surgical patients
• Prepare the operating room and instruments, ensuring sterile technique and readiness
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team for smooth case flow
• Monitor patients' condition and respond quickly to changes during the perioperative period
• Educate and support families with empathy and clear communication throughout the surgical experience
• Participate in orientation and unit-specific training to maintain high standards of pediatric OR care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in accordance with state requirements
• Experience in Operating Room nursing, with pediatric experience strongly preferred
• Current BLS certification required; PALS or pediatric perioperative training preferred
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to caring for children and families

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with pediatric anesthesia considerations and age-appropriate care
• Skill in patient assessment, monitoring, and post-anesthesia care
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and maintain efficient case flow
• Attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and infection control practices
