Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (12-hour schedule; start/end times vary by unit and may include days and nights)

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $43 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate bedside nursing care for Med/Surg patients
Assess and monitor patient conditions, changes, and needs
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team for coordinated care
Document patient information and interventions clearly in the chart
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, plans, and discharge needs
Respond quickly and effectively to clinical changes and emergencies

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Alabama or compact state eligibility preferred
Med/Surg clinical experience — experience on medical-surgical units is a plus
Basic Life Support (BLS) credential required; Advanced certifications such as ACLS or PALS are a plus
Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to rotating schedules
Strong communication, assessment, and critical thinking skills

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and interventions
Medication administration and IV therapy competence
Patient assessment and clinical monitoring skills
Comfortable with electronic health record documentation
Teamwork and effective communication with patients, families, and staff
