Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Monitor and document patient progress, escalating changes in condition appropriately
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge and follow-up care
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, and self-care
Maintain infection control standards and a safe healing environment

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility for state licensure
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS and other certifications preferred
Experience in medical-surgical nursing helpful, comfort with 12-hour shift cadence
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing practices and protocols
Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
Familiarity with patient monitoring and documentation standards
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hospital setting
Comfort working as part of an interdisciplinary care team
