Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Day shift (specific days to be scheduled)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide attentive personal care to residents, including bathing, grooming, and toileting
Assist with safe transfers and mobility support while following facility protocols
Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to nursing staff
Support mealtime assistance and ensure dietary needs and preferences are respected
Deliver compassionate companionship and meaningful engagement to improve quality of life
Maintain accurate documentation of care tasks and resident interactions

Qualifications

Current GNA certification or equivalent as required by Maryland
Comfortable providing hands-on resident care in a long-term care setting
Current CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Prior experience in geriatric care or long-term care settings is a plus

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Completion of an approved GNA program or state-required training

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of basic resident care principles and infection control
Skillful in safe resident handling and fall prevention techniques
Familiarity with charting daily care activities and reporting changes
Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with older adults
Time management to prioritize resident needs during shift
