Location: Bowie, Maryland

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Days not specified, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM day shift

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, helping them maintain dignity and comfort
Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility
Take and record vital signs and report any changes in condition to the care team
Document resident interactions and care accurately and promptly
Support a safe, clean and therapeutic environment for residents
Collaborate with nurses and other staff to deliver person-centered care with warmth and respect

Qualifications

Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification, ideally valid in Maryland
CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain it promptly
Previous experience caring for older adults is preferred but entry-level GNAs with strong compassion and reliability are encouraged to apply
Clear background check and up-to-date health screenings as required by facility policy
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a team

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited GNA training program and state certification

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic elderly care needs
Comfortable with basic resident hygiene and mobility assistance
Familiarity with infection control practices and safe transfer techniques
Ability to observe, document and communicate changes in resident condition
Compassion, patience and strong interpersonal skills with older adults and families
