Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
• Provide safe transfer and mobility assistance while using proper body mechanics
• Observe residents’ physical and emotional condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Support mealtime and hydration needs, ensuring comfort and proper nutrition
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and interventions
• Contribute to a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to create a positive care experience

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• State-specific GNA registry or license as applicable
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfort working night shifts and providing compassionate care to geriatric residents
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team
• Prior experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus but not always required

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused assistance
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Infection control practices and universal precautions
• Empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
