Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Support meal service and assist with feeding as needed, while honoring resident preferences
- Document care activities accurately and timely in the facility charting system
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to implement resident care plans
- Create a supportive, respectful environment that promotes resident independence and well-being
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) — this role is posted as Class: GNA
- Current state registry or ability to obtain/maintain required state credentials
- Comfort working with older adults and showing patience, respect, and empathy
- Basic communication skills to interact with residents, families, and team members
- Reliable, punctual, and able to complete assigned shifts (per-diem expectations)
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent (as required for GNA certification)
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with personal care and mobility assistance
- Familiarity with documentation best practices and reporting changes in condition
- Understanding of infection control and safe patient handling principles
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a care team
- Ability to follow care plans and directions from licensed nursing staff
