Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (as-needed), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM day shift

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate personal care and assistance to geriatric residents
Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
Support mobility and safe transfers while following safe patient handling practices
Observe, record, and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
Help maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents
Build trusting relationships with residents and communicate respectfully with families and team members

Qualifications

Active GNA certification (or equivalent) — current and in good standing
CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Comfort working with older adults and empathy for geriatric care needs
Strong communication skills and ability to follow care plans
Willingness to pass required background checks and screenings
Previous long-term care or assisted living experience is a plus

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

Basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, observation and reporting
Knowledge of infection control and resident safety practices
Ability to use basic charting/EHR systems or willingness to learn
Strong interpersonal skills and patience when working with seniors
Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
