Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered daily care to geriatric residents
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe residents and report changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and respectful environment for residents
• Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with teammates
• Build meaningful relationships with residents to promote dignity and well-being

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
• Active state registry or ability to obtain state registration as required
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or able to obtain
• Comfortable working in long-term care or skilled nursing settings
• Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to elder care
• Able to pass required background checks and health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Basic infection control and safety practices
• Safe resident transfer and lifting techniques
• Clear verbal and written communication with residents, families, and staff
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
• Attention to detail for accurate documentation and reporting
