Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Support mobility and safe transfers while encouraging independence whenever possible
• Assist with feeding, bathing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
• Maintain clear, accurate documentation of care and observations
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to keep residents safe
• Build positive relationships with residents and families through thoughtful communication

Qualifications

• Active GNA or CNA certification (state-required credential)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Current state-required background checks and health screenings
• Comfort working with elderly adults, including those with dementia or mobility limitations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
• Dependable, punctual, and able to follow assigned care plans

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA/CNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
• Infection prevention and safe hygiene practices
• Ability to document care accurately and communicate effectively with the care team
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with older adults
