Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents, including bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance
- Assist nursing staff with vital signs, basic observations, and timely reporting of changes
- Support meal and feeding routines while ensuring dignity and respect for each resident
- Maintain clean, safe environments by following facility infection control and safety procedures
- Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through thoughtful, patient-centered interactions
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — active and in good standing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated comfort with providing personal care and assisting with activities of daily living
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on a care team
- Reliable, punctual, and able to pass facility background and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an approved CNA training program required
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with infection control practices and patient safety standards
- Basic knowledge of vital signs and how to report concerns
- Ability to assist safely with transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics
- Comfortable documenting care in electronic or paper charting systems
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong observational skills
