Shift Type: Rotating 8-hour shifts (Day/Evening/Night). Shift times: 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM, 2:45 PM - 11:15 PM, 10:45 PM - 7:15 AM (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM noted for some posts). Schedule varies and includes weekends and scheduled call. Call: self-scheduled weekday call 4-8 times per 4-week schedule, weekend call frequency varies by shift (e.g., one weekend every 6 weeks for 7a-3p, every 4th weekend for 3p-11p). Shift type: rotating.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the Cardio-OR and general OR suites, maintaining 1:1 patient ratios
• Prepare patients, instruments and equipment for a wide range of cases including cardiac, trauma, orthopedics and general surgery
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, OR techs and support services to ensure smooth, safe procedures
• Chart thoroughly and accurately in Cerner Surginet to support quality care and continuity
• Respond to call within a 30-minute window and manage emergent cases calmly and competently
• Serve as first responder or charge support on your shift as needed, especially when staffing is lean on night shifts
• Mentor and orient traveling and new staff during floor-specific orientation (2-3 shifts)

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the applicable state
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of OR/CVOR experience required, 3-5 years preferred
• Experience in trauma, orthopedics (total joints) and general surgery required
• Comfortable with call obligations and responding within 30 minutes
• Familiarity with Cerner Surginet or similar EMR strongly preferred
• Scrubbing experience preferred but not required; travel experience preferred

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of CVOR and general OR workflows and sterile technique
• Proficient with Cerner Surginet charting and perioperative documentation
• Able to manage cardiac and trauma cases, including familiarity with open heart procedures when requested
• Competent with telemetry/monitoring systems such as GE Space Labs
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity settings
• Ability to work autonomously on night shifts as the sole RN with one tech
