Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor mothers and neonates during labor, delivery and the postpartum period using objective and subjective data
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the healthcare team
• Provide compassionate patient and family education, including breastfeeding support and infant care coaching
• Document all care, interventions and patient education accurately in the electronic medical record
• Communicate patient status and changes clearly to physicians and unit leadership
• Assist physicians with procedures and support the nursery nurse in mother and baby couplet care
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and support other units when needed
• Contribute to a safe, clean and orderly Family Birthing Center environment

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado
• Minimum Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program
• At least 2 years of LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum) nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• PALS and NRP certifications preferred
• Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform duties that require standing, reaching and frequent movement
• Willingness to work nights, weekends and occasional holidays

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment and critical thinking for maternal and neonatal care
• Care planning and patient advocacy skills to support family-centered care
• Proficiency with EMR documentation and clear clinical charting
• Neonatal and postpartum care, including breastfeeding support
• Emergency response and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong communication skills with patients, families and providers
• Ability to assist with procedures and support unit education and training
