Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality CT imaging across adult patient populations, including trauma, acute care, and outpatient exams
- Prepare and administer contrast media safely and monitor patients during and after studies
- Start peripheral IVs and perform venipuncture as needed for imaging procedures
- Operate GE CT scanners and PACS, ensuring excellent image acquisition and archiving
- Execute specialized procedures such as vascular CTA, brain perfusion, CT arthrography, myelography, biopsies, and drainages with precision
- Use post-processing tools (3D rendering, MPR, ROI measurement) to assist radiologists and improve diagnostic clarity
- Chart accurately and promptly in Epic — documentation is a hard stop for this role
- Practice radiation safety and infection isolation precautions to protect patients and staff
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV teams, respiratory, phlebotomy, pharmacy, transport) to ensure seamless patient care
- Provide patient education and compassionate direct care, particularly in trauma and acute settings
Qualifications
- ARRT (CT) certification preferred and required for practice
- BLS certification required
- Oregon State OBMI certification required prior to start
- Minimum 1 year of recent direct patient care experience; travel experience required
- Experience working in a Level III trauma hospital (minimum) — trauma experience is a must
- Hands-on experience with GE CT scanners and PACS (Epic charting is a hard stop)
- Comfort performing advanced CT procedures (CTA, brain perfusion, arthrography, myelography, biopsies)
- Ability to complete an 80-hour orientation and participate in one week of standby call
Knowledge & Skills
- CT imaging techniques and contrast administration
- Epic charting and electronic medical record workflows
- PACS operation and image archiving
- 3D rendering, maximum intensity projection, volume rendering
- Multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) and region-of-interest (ROI) measurement
- Radiation safety and infection isolation precautions
- Peripheral IV insertion and venipuncture skills
- Trauma imaging protocols and acute care workflows
- Advanced CT procedures: vascular CTA, heart/coronary CT, brain perfusion, CT arthrography, myelography
- Patient assessment, communication, and teamwork in high-acuity settings
