Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
- Monitor residents’ condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff to ensure timely care
- Assist with meal service and feeding as needed while respecting residents’ preferences and dignity
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care activities and observations
- Follow infection prevention protocols and facility policies to keep residents safe
- Build rapport with residents and families to create a warm, trusting care environment
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification (state-registered) — ability to work in New Mexico required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working 12+ hour day shifts with a focus on weekend coverage
- Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar settings preferred
- Ability to pass background checks, TB screening, and required immunizations
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in activities of daily living (ADL) assistance and resident hygiene
- Safe patient transfer and mobility techniques
- Basic vital signs measurement and observation of clinical changes
- Infection control practices and proper PPE use
- Clear, respectful verbal and written communication
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
