Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality respiratory care to adults and pediatric patients across critical care units
- Manage and titrate mechanical ventilation (GE R860, Draeger infant/peds vents) and transport ventilators (Newport HT70)
- Provide non-invasive ventilation, operate V60 devices, and manage high-flow oxygen therapies like Vapotherm and Comfort Flow
- Perform patient assessments, monitor respiratory status, and respond to rapid responses/codes as needed
- Document interventions and patient data accurately in Cerner EMR
- Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Safely perform patient transports with appropriate ventilator support and handoffs
Qualifications
- North Carolina Respiratory License (required)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS — required
- 2+ years of respiratory therapy experience in acute/critical care settings
- NRP preferred
- Comfortable working night shifts and a rotating weekend schedule
- Able to float across all critical care units and adapt to varied patient ratios
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
- Proficiency with non-invasive ventilation and high-flow oxygen devices
- Experience with transport ventilators and bedside transport procedures
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR for documentation and charting
- Comfort working in high-acuity environments and managing varied patient loads
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary settings
- Ability to follow unit policies and maintain infection control and safety standards
