Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent bedside nursing care on a med-surg telemetry unit, monitoring cardiac and telemetry patients with vigilance
• Administer medications, manage IV therapy and perform peripheral IV starts safely and confidently
• Perform wound care and dressing changes, and operate equipment such as Baxter IV pumps and wound vacs
• Document patient status, interventions and care plans accurately using Cerner PowerChart
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care and safe discharges
• Support unit staffing needs, including floating to other medical-surgical areas and ED holding when required
• Act as a positive team member, assist colleagues proactively, and contribute to a constructive work environment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse licensure (NC or compact where applicable) required
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience, with medical-surgical and telemetry experience preferred
• BLS certification required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Comfortable using Cerner PowerChart or similar EMR systems
• Charge nurse experience is a plus and will be considered preferred
• Able to float to other med-surgical units and ED holding as needed

Education

• Active RN license required
• ADN or BSN in Nursing preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Medical-surgical clinical skills including IV starts and wound care
• Familiarity with Baxter IV pumps, wound vacs, SCDs and related equipment
• Proficient documentation in Cerner PowerChart or equivalent EMR
• Strong communication, teamwork and patient education skills
• Ability to work independently during night shifts while escalating appropriately
