Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care for Progressive Care and step-down ICU patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Monitor patients continuously using telemetry and interpret telemetry strips to detect changes
• Perform fingerstick blood sugars and manage glucose-related care promptly
• Utilize Meditech for accurate charting and documentation of patient care
• Administer medications through Pyxis and follow safe medication administration practices
• Operate and support respiratory therapies such as BIPAP when required
• Communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to drive the best patient outcomes
• Float to other acute in-house units (Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, ER) as needed and adapt quickly to varied patient populations

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required — Hawaii RN license must be obtained by start of assignment
• At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
• Progressive Care / telemetry experience preferred
• Experience in step-down ICU/PCU or similar acute settings is a plus
• ACLS preferred; current PALS preferred; NIHSS certification preferred
• Comfortable floating to Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU and ER units
• Ability to work varied/rotating shifts with a professional, team-first attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and telemetry strip reading
• Continuous cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Primary nursing care in an acute care environment
• Meditech electronic charting proficiency
• Experience with Pyxis medication systems
• Familiarity with respiratory support devices (BIPAP)
• Point-of-care testing such as fingerstick blood glucose
• Experience working in Progressive Care Unit, step-down ICU, medical-surgical, pediatrics or ED settings
