Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to med-surg and ortho patients on a 24-bed unit
• Assess patients, develop individualized care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes
• Provide post-operative orthopedic care including pain management, mobility assistance, and wound monitoring
• Collaborate with surgeons, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate safe, timely discharges
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on condition-specific care, recovery expectations, and home safety
• Respond promptly and effectively to changes in patient condition and clinical emergencies
• Promote a culture of safety and infection control, maintaining unit standards and best practices
• Mentor and support colleagues to strengthen team performance and patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma or a current multistate compact RN license
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS or other specialty certifications preferred
• Med-Surg and Orthopedics clinical experience; prior med-surg/ortho experience preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and maintain strong clinical judgment during NOC hours
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a patient-centered approach
• Immunizations and health screening per facility requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for acute med-surg and ortho patients
• Post-operative orthopedic care knowledge including mobility protocols and DVT prevention
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced 24-bed unit with a 1:5 ratio
• Effective patient and family education techniques
