Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (typically 3 shifts/week), Night 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (typically 3 shifts/week); schedule rotates across Monday-Sunday with weekend coverage as needed; shift assignments are reviewed every 4 weeks. Orientation: Week 1 Mon-Fri days, Week 2 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality PCU and MedSurg nursing care for adult and geriatric surgical oncology patients
• Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin and heparin drips safely and accurately
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
• Manage chest tubes and provide tracheostomy and respiratory support as needed
• Respond quickly and effectively to oncologic emergencies, including cytokine release syndrome
• Implement infection prevention and falls prevention protocols to protect patients
• Document comprehensive patient care in EPIC and communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team
• Support unit flow by working collaboratively with IV teams, pharmacy, PT, RT and rapid response teams

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state-appropriate) with at least 2 years of nursing experience
• Minimum of 2 years experience within the last 3 years, with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• PCU/MedSurg or telemetry experience with familiarity in surgical oncology care
• Comfortable and competent with acuity changes, complex drips, and emergency response

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with EPIC charting and computerized documentation
• Telemetry monitoring and GE B450 telemetry experience
• Experience with Alaris infusion pumps, bladder scanners and Stryker beds
• Skill in chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions and IV therapy
• Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Chest tube management and tracheostomy/BiPAP/CPAP care
• Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment and teamwork skills
• Excellent communication skills for handoffs, patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
