Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 06:30 AM - 07:00 PM (day shift times listed); typically 3 x 12-hour shifts per week with every 3rd weekend required and rotating holidays. Night shifts are noted on the posting (12-hour nights) but day times are provided above.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care for medical-surgical and post-op oncology patients
- Monitor patients on telemetry/central monitoring and promptly act on changes
- Safely titrate and manage drips (heparin, lidocaine, TPN gtts) according to orders and protocols
- Document accurately and thoroughly using EPIC to ensure continuity of care
- Communicate clearly with interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families
- Serve in charge nurse or unit leadership roles when assigned, supporting unit flow and safety
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and competency validation to maintain high standards
- Adhere to facility policies (including infection control and fingernail/artificial nail policies) to protect patients
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska (required)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (as stated in the posting)
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Oncology certification preferred but not required
- Chemotherapy competency is a nice-to-have (travelers may not be required to administer chemo)
- Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
- Must pass orientation competency exam (open-book skills exam) with a minimum score of 90% to continue assignment
- Must meet the 50-mile radius rule and may not be employed (FT/PT/PRN) with any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI/Dignity
Education
- Active RN license (required)
- BSN not required for this role (BSN preferred but optional per posting)
- BLS (AHA) certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in EPIC charting and electronic documentation workflows
- Strong telemetry monitoring skills and ability to interpret cardiac strips
- Experience with titration of intravenous drips and familiarity with common drips used on the unit
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and timeliness in documentation and care delivery
- Ability to function independently on a med/surg oncology unit and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Comfort in caring for post-operative cancer surgery patients (e.g., prostatectomy, mastectomy)
