Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients frequently and respond to changing conditions with confidence
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and follow patient care plans
• Perform thorough documentation in the electronic health record to ensure continuity
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge goals
• Prioritize patient safety, infection control, and evidence-based nursing practice
• Support admission, transfer, and discharge processes to keep the unit flowing

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license (TX license or compact eligibility preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications welcomed
• Strong clinical assessment, time management, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently on night shift while collaborating with team members

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med-Surg principles, medication administration, and IV management
• Proficient with patient assessment, care planning, and bedside documentation
• Comfortable using electronic health records and standard hospital equipment
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education abilities
• Ability to prioritize and triage in a fast-paced acute care environment
