Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to PCU/stepdown patients using evidence-based practices
- Continuously assess and monitor patients on telemetry, recognizing subtle changes and escalating care as needed
- Coordinate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team to implement effective care plans
- Administer medications and treatments accurately while documenting thoroughly and timely
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and post-discharge needs with clarity and compassion
- Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring peers, participating in huddles, and supporting unit goals
Qualifications
- Current RN license (must be authorized to practice in North Carolina or hold a multistate compact license)
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/stepdown nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong telemetry and patient assessment experience, with demonstrated ability to prioritize and triage
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to patient-centered care
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of stepdown/PCU patient care and telemetry monitoring
- Skilled in medication administration, IV therapy, and clinical documentation
- Ability to quickly interpret clinical data and make informed decisions
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments and managing multiple priorities
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication and patient education skills
