Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate critical care to trauma surgical ICU patients
• Manage advanced therapies and devices such as CRRT, EVDs, ventilators and wound vacs
• Perform and care for invasive lines and procedures: arterial lines, central/CVC lines, chest tubes and tracheostomy care
• Accurately document patient care and changes in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists and the interdisciplinary care team to optimize outcomes
• Triage and prioritize complex patient needs in a fast-paced ICU environment
• Support unit staffing and mentor colleagues to promote a cohesive, high-performing team

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be eligible to work in North Carolina; compact license may apply)
• Minimum 2 years of critical care/ICU experience with trauma surgical ICU background preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• TNCC or ATCN preferred
• Hands-on experience with Cerner EMR and ICU equipment (Camino ICP, CRRT, EVD, wound vacs, ventilators)
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and the ability to function in high-acuity settings

Education

• Active RN license required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care and ICU nursing fundamentals
• Trauma surgical ICU workflows and patient management
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR and bedside documentation
• Operation and troubleshooting of CRRT, intracranial pressure monitoring (Camino ICP) and EVD systems
• Vascular access and invasive line care (arterial, CVC/central lines)
• Chest tube management and tracheostomy care
• Wound vac management and complex wound care principles
• Ability to prioritize, triage, and communicate clearly under pressure
