Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered therapeutic interventions under the direction of the PT to help patients regain mobility and independence
- Deliver hands-on treatments and assist with therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers, and use of assistive devices
- Document treatment plans, interventions, and patient progress accurately and timely
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize outcomes
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety techniques, and recovery expectations
- Ensure patient safety and adhere to infection control, documentation, and facility policies
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and communicate opportunities for better patient care
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in California or eligible to obtain state licensure
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification (or willingness to obtain quickly)
- Demonstrated PTA experience in inpatient, outpatient, or rehabilitation settings preferred
- Comfortable with hands-on patient care, transfers, and working within an interdisciplinary team
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records preferred
Education
- Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant (or equivalent accredited PTA program completion)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of therapeutic exercise principles, mobility training, and assistive devices
- Skilled in patient assessment, progress documentation, and treatment planning
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and quality care
