Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care for surgical patients, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the surgical journey
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure surgical instrumentation and supplies are ready
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the OR team for smooth case flow
- Monitor patient status and vital signs, responding promptly to any changes
- Administer medications and assist with anesthesia-related tasks per protocol
- Document care, handoffs, and surgical counts accurately and thoroughly
- Participate in pre-op and post-op patient education and discharge planning as needed
Qualifications
- Active RN license (verifiable via Nursys) — must be current and in good standing
- Minimum 2+ years recent Operating Room (OR) nursing experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (current)
- DCI/BVP certification as listed in requirements
- Successful completion of Prime exams/checklists and skills verification as required
- Ability to pass background checks, a minimum 10-panel drug screen, fit testing, and required immunizations
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
- Familiarity with surgical procedures and instrumentation
- Rhythm interpretation and basic pharmacology knowledge
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making
- Proven ability to follow Prime core competencies and specialty checklists
- Clear, calm communication and teamwork in high-pressure settings
- Accurate documentation and use of electronic health records
- Adherence to infection control, TB, vaccine, and fit-test requirements
