Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to nursing staff
• Help create a home-like environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
• Document care and observations clearly and promptly in resident charts
• Follow infection prevention and safety policies to keep residents and coworkers safe
• Communicate effectively with nurses, families, and the care team to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in New York (or eligible for NY certification)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or similar settings is a plus
• Good communication skills and a caring, patient-centered attitude
• Ability to pass required background checks and any facility onboarding screenings
• Reliable, punctual, and able to handle physically active work (lifting, standing, assisting residents)

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of resident activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident dignity
• Ability to take and accurately record vital signs
• Basic knowledge of infection control principles
• Comfortable with bedside care tasks and safe transfer techniques
• Teamwork, time management, and clear communication skills
• Familiarity with electronic health records or willingness to learn charting systems
