Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality bedside care for Level 1 trauma and post-craniotomy patients, prioritizing safety and recovery
- Assess, monitor, and document patient status and response to interventions with precision
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate timely, evidence-based care
- Respond rapidly to emergent situations and implement trauma protocols effectively
- Complete skills-checklist items to demonstrate competence in craniotomy and trauma care
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families during critical care moments
- Maintain accurate demographic and credential documentation in HWL profile as required
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Level 1 trauma experience — must be listed in your work history exactly as Level 1 trauma
- Demonstrated experience caring for craniotomy patients with a strong rating on the skills checklist
- Comfort and experience working night shifts and high-acuity trauma environments
- Ability to upload required demographic information, including full SSN and badge-appropriate photo, to HWL profile
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and ability to work in fast-paced teams
- Current state licensure and certifications (e.g., RN, BLS/ACLS) are highly recommended — please have them ready
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced trauma nursing knowledge and protocols
- Post-craniotomy patient care and neurosurgical monitoring
- Critical care assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, and neuro checks
- Accurate documentation and use of skills-checklist verification
- Effective interdisciplinary communication and handoff practices
- Calm, decisive response to emergencies and rapid changes in patient condition
