Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based neonatal care in a Level-III NICU
- Manage advanced respiratory support including high-frequency ventilation and inhaled nitric oxide
- Lead and execute therapeutic hypothermia (brain cooling) protocols when indicated
- Perform daily rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary care with subspecialists and neonatal nurse practitioners
- Serve as a clinical educator through the Mercer Medical School appointment—mentor learners and contribute to training
- Participate in on-call coverage and ensure continuity of care during off-hours
- Engage in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and family-centered communication to improve outcomes
- Document clinical care clearly and collaborate with hospital teams including the regional perinatal network
Qualifications
- Board certified or board eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (preferred)
- Completion of a Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship
- Experience working in a Level-III NICU with exposure to high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide, and therapeutic hypothermia
- Comfortable with one week on / one week off clinical schedule and on-call-from-home duties
- Eligibility for or possession of an active Georgia medical license (ability to obtain credentials at Atrium Health Navicent)
- Not accepting visa candidates (U.S. work authorization required)
- Locum candidates not accepted
Education
- MD or DO degree
- Fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in neonatology and Level-III NICU care
- Skill with high-frequency ventilation and inhaled nitric oxide therapies
- Experience with therapeutic hypothermia protocols
- Strong collaboration and supervision skills working with Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs)
- Effective communication with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Comfortable teaching in an academic clinical setting
