Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform one-time, non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans
- Conduct thorough interview-based evaluations to document functional status and medical history
- Perform targeted physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing when required
- Prepare clear, timely exam reports and complete any required addendums or medical opinions
- Review and interpret diagnostic information as needed to support documentation
- Follow client-specific documentation protocols and portal workflows
- Maintain professional conduct and communicate findings in a respectful, Veteran-centered way
Qualifications
- Experience in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine (candidates with C&P experience are especially welcome)
- Comfort and experience performing compensation & pension examinations and separation health assessments
- Ability to complete required portal training and any client-required certifications (DMA certification noted as preferred/desired)
- Must be within the required geographic radius of the assignment (provider’s own office must be within 50 miles of the listed city for this opening)
- Strong documentation and report-writing experience for medico-legal or administrative exams
- Professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a clinic or office setting
Education
- MD or DO or equivalent medical degree (physician-level qualification expected)
- Relevant specialty training or board certification appropriate to family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery or general medicine
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in physical assessment techniques (range of motion testing, muscle strength testing)
- Strong interviewing and patient-history elicitation skills
- Excellent clinical documentation and report-writing ability
- Experience reading diagnostics and composing medical opinions
- Familiarity with compensation & pension exam requirements and workflows
- Comfort using electronic portals and following defined administrative processes
