Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive OB/GYN hospitalist care across major facilities, including labor and delivery coverage
- Support Maternal-Fetal Medicine and obstetric providers with labor/deliveries and surgical assists
- Manage obstetric triage and emergency situations, including ectopic pregnancies and torsions
- Perform routine gynecologic procedures, including diagnostic laparoscopy, and support the Emergency Department
- Participate in academic activities and teach OB fellows and residents from OB and family medicine programs
- Collaborate collegially with the maternal-fetal medicine team to deliver high-quality care
- Contribute to a culture of safety, education, and continuous improvement in the hospital setting
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB/GYN (explicitly required)
- Willingness and ability to work 6-8 24-hour shifts per month
- Residency within the immediate local area is required; relocation may be necessary
- This is a permanent, full-time position — locums candidates are not accepted
- U.S. work authorization required — the role does not accept visa candidates
Education
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB/GYN
- Completion of an accredited OB/GYN residency (MD or DO implied by board eligibility)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in labor and delivery and obstetric emergency management
- Skilled in surgical assists and gynecologic procedures, including diagnostic laparoscopy
- Strong triage management skills for obstetric presentations
- Experience supporting Emergency Department presentations related to GYN/obstetrics
- Comfortable with teaching and medical education—mentoring residents and fellows
- Collaborative approach to working with Maternal-Fetal Medicine and multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent clinical judgment, clear communication, and ability to work autonomously during 24-hour shifts
