Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychological assessments and evaluations for patients in the psychiatric program
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote recovery and stability
- Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy focusing on mental health needs
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, nursing staff and correctional health teams to coordinate care
- Document clinical findings, progress notes and treatment plans accurately and on time
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to program development and quality improvement
- Support training and mentorship during the onboarding period to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Licensed Psychologist in California or eligible for California licensure
- Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (PhD or PsyD) preferred
- Experience working in psychiatric settings or correctional health is highly desirable
- Demonstrated competence with psychological assessment tools and evidence-based interventions
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility security requirements
- Strong communication, documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Education
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) preferred; appropriate postdoctoral training or supervised experience as required for licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in psychiatric assessment and diagnostic formulation (DSM-5 knowledge)
- Skilled in individual and group therapy modalities and crisis intervention
- Comfortable working within a structured psychiatric program and correctional environment
- Strong clinical documentation and electronic health record skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse clinical teams and patient populations
- Cultural competence and trauma-informed care approach
