Shift Type: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM Day (4x10 schedule, 30-minute meal break, flexible within Mon-Thu)

Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate therapeutic recreational groups that promote mental health, socialization, and life skills
- Assess participants’ needs and develop individualized treatment plans and activity goals
- Implement evidence-based recreational therapy interventions and adapt activities for diverse abilities
- Document progress and outcomes clearly and timely to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with mental health clinicians, custody staff, and program partners to deliver coordinated care
- Maintain safety, professional boundaries, and confidentiality in a correctional facility setting
- Participate in onboarding, staff meetings, and ongoing training to strengthen program quality
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field preferred
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or equivalent certification preferred
- Experience working in mental health or behavioral health settings is highly desirable
- Comfortable and able to work in a correctional facility; ability to pass required background checks and clearances
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Strong communication, documentation, and group facilitation skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
Knowledge & Skills
- Group facilitation and activity planning for therapeutic outcomes
- Understanding of mental health principles and behavior management
- Skilled in assessment, individualized treatment planning, and progress documentation
- Trauma-informed care and culturally responsive practice
- Ability to collaborate across clinical and custody teams
- Time management, flexibility, and professionalism in a structured environment
