Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist chairside with procedures, ensuring efficient and safe patient care
- Prepare operatories and instruments, following strict infection control protocols
- Take and process radiographs as authorized, maintaining high-quality images
- Manage patient flow and records with professionalism and attention to detail
- Educate patients on post-operative care and oral hygiene in a clear, compassionate way
- Maintain inventory and sterilization logs to support smooth clinic operations
- Coordinate with the dental team to support clinical goals and quality standards
Qualifications
- Valid RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) certification required
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Previous dental assisting experience preferred; correctional facility experience a plus
- Ability to pass required background checks and site-specific clearances
- Strong communication skills and professional bedside manner
- Willingness to complete site orientation and follow facility security procedures
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or on-the-job RDA credentialing
Knowledge & Skills
- Chairside assisting and familiarity with common dental procedures
- Infection control, sterilization techniques, and OSHA standards
- Comfortable with dental instruments, materials, and tray setups
- Basic radiography knowledge and safe x-ray practices
- Electronic health record navigation and accurate documentation
- Time management and ability to multitask in a clinical setting
