Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient functional status and develop individualized treatment plans
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve mobility and independence
• Document patient progress and update care plans in a timely, accurate manner
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and staff on safe therapeutic techniques and injury prevention
• Maintain a safe treatment environment and follow facility policies and procedures
• Provide professional, compassionate care in a correctional facility setting

Qualifications

• Valid California Physical Therapist license or ability to obtain prior to start
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Previous experience in rehabilitation settings; correctional or institutional experience a plus
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility-specific clearance requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Reliable, professional demeanor and commitment to patient-centered care

Education

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent degree in Physical Therapy

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in musculoskeletal and neuromuscular assessment and treatment
• Proficient with therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and functional training
• Competent documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health record workflows
• Knowledge of infection control, safety protocols, and patient handling techniques
• Ability to prioritize caseload and deliver efficient, high-quality care
