Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate individual and group psychotherapy to patients in a substance abuse treatment setting
• Develop, implement, and revise person-centered treatment plans that drive meaningful recovery
• Perform comprehensive mental health assessments and intake evaluations
• Lead therapeutic groups and psychoeducation sessions that support long-term sobriety
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate holistic care
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and comply with facility policies
• Participate in orientation and training to ensure a smooth start and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current and valid California Psychologist license (PSY/PSYL) OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
• Experience working in substance abuse treatment and mental health settings preferred
• Comfortable conducting assessments, writing treatment plans, and leading groups
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with clinical staff and facility teams
• Willingness to complete the one-week orientation and commit to the 18-week assignment

Education

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related clinical field (programmatic requirements to meet licensure)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in psychotherapy techniques and evidence-based substance abuse interventions
• Knowledge of diagnostics, treatment planning, and clinical documentation
• Ability to manage crisis situations and apply trauma-informed care principles
• Competence facilitating therapeutic groups and delivering psychoeducation
• Familiarity with behavioral health best practices and collaborative care
