Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide thorough mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for incarcerated adults
• Deliver evidence-based individual and group therapy focused on stabilization and rehabilitation
• Perform crisis intervention and safety risk assessments as needed to maintain a safe therapeutic environment
• Collaborate with custody staff and a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and continuity of services
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards
• Facilitate referrals and discharge planning to support reentry and community resources
• Participate in training and case consultations to ensure high-quality, trauma-informed care

Qualifications

• Active LCSW license in California (or eligible to obtain prior to start)
• Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
• Clinical experience in mental health settings; experience in correctional or forensic mental health preferred
• Comfort with providing services in a secure correctional environment and working as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Ability to pass background checks and facility-specific clearances

Education

• Master of Social Work (MSW) required
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills for adults with serious mental illness
• Trauma-informed, culturally responsive counseling techniques
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
• Excellent written documentation and treatment planning abilities
• Ability to collaborate effectively with custody staff, medical providers, and community partners
• Familiarity with standards of care and regulatory requirements for correctional mental health
