Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patient mobility, strength, and functional needs to build effective treatment plans
- Design and implement individualized therapy programs focused on functional outcomes and safety
- Provide hands-on interventions, therapeutic exercises and education to patients and their care teams
- Document progress and outcomes thoroughly and timely to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with nursing, mental health, custody staff and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Participate in orientation and training activities to maintain high standards and compliance
Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in California or ability to obtain before start
- Active BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Experience delivering patient-centered physical therapy in an institutional or acute/rehab setting preferred
- Comfort working within a correctional facility environment and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation and communication skills
Education
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred or equivalent degree in Physical Therapy
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in musculoskeletal and functional mobility assessment
- Proficient with therapeutic exercise prescription and manual therapy techniques
- Knowledgeable about safety, fall prevention and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Ability to create measurable treatment goals and track patient outcomes
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration
- Competent documentation skills and familiarity with clinical charting best practices
