Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM, nights; every other weekend required; holiday coverage required (minimum 2 holidays during contract); guaranteed 36 hours/week

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality PCU nursing care for adults with cardiac, respiratory, dialysis, stroke, and post-procedure needs
- Safely titrate drips (Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin) following unit protocols
- Manage and monitor arterial lines and interpret telemetry strips independently
- Troubleshoot high-flow oxygen therapy and collaborate with RT as needed
- Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to support patient safety and continuity of care
- Work as a team player on a unit that values patient experience, communication, and responsiveness
- Assist with patient mobility using overhead and portable lifts and support safe care transfers
- Float to MedSurg or ICU when required to cover PCU-acuity patients and ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Valid RN license eligible for Nebraska (Compact nurses welcome if valid in NE)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (PCU/stepdown, telemetry, or critical care preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required (stroke care competency)
- Demonstrated competence with arterial lines and drip titration
- Experience reading and interpreting telemetry strips
- Comfortable charting in EPIC
- Driver's license required at submittal and must meet the 50-mile radius rule
- Ability to pass orientation pass/fail exam with a 90% (open-book resources provided)
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma accepted (BSN not required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry interpretation and rhythm recognition
- Hemodynamic monitoring and arterial line management
- IV drip titration and vasoactive medication management
- High-flow oxygen therapy awareness and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with dialysis patient needs and renal failure management
- Stroke care fundamentals and NIHSS scoring
- Proficiency with EPIC charting workflows
- Cultural competency working with diverse populations (including Hispanic and Somalian communities)
- Use of bedside tech: vein finders, bladder scanner, overhead/portable lifts
