Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess veteran patients for communication, swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders
• Develop personalized treatment plans that promote functional gains and quality of life
• Provide evidence-based therapy interventions and monitor progress
• Collaborate with nursing, rehab, and family members to ensure coordinated care
• Document clinical findings and progress clearly and promptly
• Educate families and caregivers on strategies to support carryover at home
• Contribute to a positive, veteran-centered environment and mentor support staff when appropriate

Qualifications

• Current state license in Speech-Language Pathology or eligibility to obtain Montana licensure
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or equivalent clinical certification
• Active CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and a passion for working with veteran populations

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)

• Assessment and treatment of dysphagia and communication disorders
• Skilled use of clinical documentation systems and outcome measurement
• Ability to create functional, goal-directed treatment plans
• Interdisciplinary teamwork and effective caregiver education
• Adaptability to varied patient needs and caseloads
