Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess veteran patients for communication, swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders
- Develop personalized treatment plans that promote functional gains and quality of life
- Provide evidence-based therapy interventions and monitor progress
- Collaborate with nursing, rehab, and family members to ensure coordinated care
- Document clinical findings and progress clearly and promptly
- Educate families and caregivers on strategies to support carryover at home
- Contribute to a positive, veteran-centered environment and mentor support staff when appropriate
Qualifications
- Current state license in Speech-Language Pathology or eligibility to obtain Montana licensure
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or equivalent clinical certification
- Active CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and a passion for working with veteran populations
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Assessment and treatment of dysphagia and communication disorders
- Skilled use of clinical documentation systems and outcome measurement
- Ability to create functional, goal-directed treatment plans
- Interdisciplinary teamwork and effective caregiver education
- Adaptability to varied patient needs and caseloads
