Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations across abdominal and OB/GYN modalities for accurate interpretation
• Provide compassionate patient care across all age groups, from newborns to geriatric patients
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure paperwork accompanying procedures is complete
• Manage transducer care and upkeep of the work area, including Trophon station responsibilities
• Participate in and assume responsibility for departmental quality assurance programs
• Assist with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures as requested
• Collaborate with physicians and assist in policy/procedure preparation for the department
• Support accreditation efforts and pursue continuing education to stay current in the field

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
• Demonstrated ability to perform diagnostic exams related to assigned modality
• Willingness to rotate shifts and travel between SEARHC sites as needed
• Professional judgment, strong communication skills, and ability to work under stress
• Desire to pursue additional ARDMS credentials in other modalities encouraged

Education

• Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography/Ultrasound program
• ARDMS certification in one modality required; additional ARDMS credentials preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in sonographic examination techniques for abdominal and OB/GYN imaging
• Strong patient care and transfer skills
• Quality assurance and record-keeping experience
• Transducer care and basic equipment maintenance (Trophon care)
• Experience assisting with ultrasound invasive procedures
• Familiarity with accreditation processes and continuing education requirements
• Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse patient populations
• Ability to learn other imaging modalities as needed
