Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain a sterile field for surgical procedures, ensuring instruments and supplies are ready and organized
Assist surgeons and the perioperative team during procedures by passing instruments, anticipating needs, and maintaining focus on patient safety
Perform instrument counts and track supplies to support accurate documentation and patient safety
Set up operating rooms for specific cases, inspect instruments and equipment, and report any issues promptly
Communicate clearly with nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia to coordinate smooth case flow and efficient turnover
Participate in orientation and training activities to maintain high standards of care and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained upon hire
Prior operating room or surgical tech experience preferred
Strong attention to sterile technique, safety, and detail
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary surgical team

Education

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent
High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

Proficient with sterile technique and OR aseptic practices
Familiarity with common surgical instruments, trays, and procedure setup
Good communication skills and the ability to anticipate team needs
Comfort working in a fast-paced procedural environment
Ability to follow policies for counts, documentation, and infection control
