Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care in a stepdown setting during night shifts
• Monitor and interpret patient telemetry and vital signs to detect changes quickly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and transitions
• Perform focused assessments, escalate changes in condition, and initiate appropriate interventions
• Support patient and family education, providing clear instructions and reassurance

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kansas) with Nursys/license verification completed
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification and comfort performing stroke assessments
• DCI/BVP credentialing as required by the facility
• Experience or comfort working in stepdown/telemetry-level care (no specific years required in posting)
• Able to complete required Prime exams, skills checklists, and occupational health requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Stroke assessment using NIHSS
• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking in acute-care scenarios
• Safe medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Effective charting and use of electronic medical records
• Clear communication and teamwork during handoffs and emergencies
• Comfort with unit-specific competencies and specialty exams
